After Kuala Terengganu, what’s next?

Finally, PR prevails.

More importantly, the Barisan Rakyat bloggers are the real-winners, to be in the ground zero since the day one of campaign period to provide almost real-time update in counter-spinning the half-past-six truth from the mainstream media.

We must thank them for the effort and the passion. For that, I’d like to say thank you.

A few staggering facts:

More Malay voters swung to the PAS.

Chinese voters swung to the PAS, but not as much as Malay votes, for I guess some of the Chinese still believe that MCA can help to solve the Temporary Occupation License (TOL), regardless the fact that TOL have been there for 5 generations and yet, they don’t own any title to the land, till to date!

Then again, it was revealed by political observers that some 3,000 young Chinese voters did not return to vote in the by-election, or otherwise the swing would be higher for the anti-establishment sentiment in the urban area is significant, given the critical exposure to alternative media and the all-pervasiveness of blogosphere.

There is also a breakthrough in partnership among the PR coalition, as a historic milestone achieved prior during the campaign period, where Penang CM Lim Guan Eng announced that in the future, If any problems occur within the PR coalition, they will resolve it through musyawarah, where three parties must hold discussions and And if a consensus is not reached, it must be discussed again.

In another word, this means, should PKR and PAS agree to implement hudud and DAP disagrees, then it cannot be implemented and everything must be discussed until all three parties agree.

Besides, it’s also worth noting that though vote-buying allegation is rampant as the last-ditch attempt to salvage the party reputation, BN under the Umno ticket still suffer defeat in the by-election. Vote-buying attitude die-hard, let’s see how much money they can’t afford to dish out in the next General Election.

It’s funny when we hope our MPs (pun intended) to die in the office because that’s the time when you really enjoy the attention from the Federal Government with fund allocated for any purpose, with amenities like roads and schools are being taken care of.

That’s when you really feel like the kingmaker, when they come to you and beg for the vote, instead of them sitting high-up with the what-the-hell look whenever you approach them for assistance.

Anyway, KT is part of the history now, going down as yet-another-defeat for BN since the March 8 and Permatang Pauh by-election.

Anyway, the next exodus, as what the doomsayers predict, it’s going to be in Sarawak. Yet, the Sarawak CM Taib Mahmud who has been at the helm for decades vehemently denied that BN chance is going to be affected in the state election due in 2011.

We shall see, if Taib Mahmud is going to hold retain his fort or goes down the history as the first state Opposition Leader from the BN.
